As 2024 draws to a close, Modesto City Schools is making remarkable progress on various construction and facilities projects across the district. These initiatives aim to enrich learning environments, upgrade athletic facilities, and promote sustainability, ensuring our campuses are ready for the future.
Enhancing Health Services at Davis High School
Exciting developments are underway at the Davis Health Services Academy! A new modular building has arrived on-site, and crews have diligently connected its sections. Currently, work is progressing rapidly on the building's interior, while storm drain construction is also in full swing, signaling significant progress. The project is expected to be completed in about a month, bringing the vision to life. Once finished, the facility will provide state-of-the-art resources for Career Technical Education (CTE) students pursuing health services careers, offering an exceptional space to learn, grow, and excel.
Upgraded Athletics at Enochs and Beyer High Schools
Improvements to the track and field facilities at Enochs and Beyer High Schools are making great strides. The synthetic turf installation and goalposts are now complete, and both fields are already seeing action. Soccer teams are now using the field at Beyer High School, with Enochs High School’s teams set to begin soon.
Work on the tracks at both schools is scheduled to begin shortly, ensuring the facilities will be ready for the Spring Track season.
Beyer High School Principal Sarah Cox emphasized the impact of these upgrades, saying, "We are thrilled to unveil our new track and field facility, a testament to the district’s commitment to providing top-notch resources for our students and staff. This state-of-the-art addition will enhance our athletic programs and serve as a hub for community engagement and school spirit. The excitement among students and staff is palpable, and we look forward to the countless memories and achievements that will be made here."
Modern Science Labs for Junior High Schools
Junior high science lab renovations set the stage for hands-on learning and innovation. The project is complete at Mark Twain Junior High, and staff and students are already benefiting from the upgraded facilities. Roosevelt Junior High is next in line, with work slated to begin in the summer of 2025. These modernized labs will provide students with cutting-edge tools, fostering curiosity and creativity in the sciences.
Sustainable Solutions and Campus Improvements
Sustainability remains a key priority for Modesto City Schools. Solar parking projects and EV charging stations are nearing completion, furthering the district’s commitment to environmental stewardship. A solar array near the Nutritional Services Center and additional dual-port EV chargers will become operational in January.
Meanwhile, shade canopy installations at eight TK-8 schools are nearly complete, offering much-needed outdoor shelter for students. Crews will install the final canopy at Hanshaw over summer break, while Franklin will soon add a second canopy.
These projects reflect Modesto City Schools’ commitment to creating safe, innovative, and sustainable spaces for students and staff. As construction progresses, we look forward to sharing more updates about these transformative efforts across the district.
